As a former Director of Information Technology, Chad Techtmann had a hand in common business systems hardware, network security, application alignment and strategic planning-anything that fell under the IT umbrella.

As the new Director of Business Services for SSR, Techtmann now advises companies in assessing risk management. He investigates the important questions such as 'are there multiple vendors involved performing various tasks or is one person on staff trying to do every job?' or depending upon the client's situation, 'what's the most effective way for a business to reduce overall risk?'

"For a small to mid-sized company, SSR offers expertise in all different," says Techtmann. "Coming on board at SSR, I oversee key aspects of our Business Services such as Virtual CIO, application alignment, mapping and any software development."

With current state and future state evaluation and implementation processing, Techtmann says SSR guides a company in identifying needs now and down the road. Using Virtual CIO, he suggests, a company can determine 'what's my plan for next year?' or 'what's my budget five years from now?'

"I emphasize risk management for clients," says Techtmann. "For example, customers might use SSR's Help Desk to handle any day-to-day IT issues. In other cases, we have engineers on site at least once a week checking on operations and executing on projects. In many cases, it's a smooth transition for us to increase our services with customers because we may already understand their Enterprise Report Planning (ERP) system, their cost structure and their existing applications."

Techtmann suggests a major advantage is that SSR offers silos of IT expertise. The team can draw from more resources, if necessary.

"What we see with most of our new customers is they are more reactive than proactive," says Techtmann. "SSR offers our people as the shepherds to develop and execute thoughtful technology plans. We help our customers get the most from their investment."
